Davidson seeks to address the question "What is the relationship between the church and Scripture?" A number of interrelated issues are connected, these include: the church and the principle of sola Scriptura; the church and the formation of the biblical canon; the authority of church statements of fundamental beliefs in relation to the authority of Scripture; church authority and procedures for dealing with "new light" and with heresies. These and other issues are discussed.
