How Adventist Teenagers Perceive Their church

Perception is truly everything. Having a positive or negative perception may determine the probability of an individual remaining committed or apathetic towards a given cause. The same can be said about the teenage and young adult population within the Seventh-day Adventist church. This article reports on the first year of a ten-year study on youth perceptions towards the church. Survey topics ranged from attitudes toward attendance to perceptions of pastors and members. It was discovered that Adventist youth perceived the church through the people and perceive the rules through the people who make them. An open, just and caring atmosphere yields greater commitment towards church life.
