A Study of Factors Relating to Church Growth and Apostasy in the Washington Conference of Seventh-day Adventists

This study of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Washington sought to address two different issues. First, factors influencing church growth and decline within the conference, and second, the factors influencing drop-outs from the church. The study sample included all churches within the Washington Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Growth issues were studied using data obtained from surveys administered to pastors, pastors' wives, and church members respectively. For the issue of apostasy, individual interviews were conducted based on churches randomly selected from the sample. The findings from each survey are presented separately in this article.
