Reactions, Reflections, and Responsibility - A Responsive Evaluation of an Emerging Blended E-learning Subject

Pre-service education students at Avondale College in New South Wales, Australia requested e-learning for their teacher training program. This article deals with the questions “what is to be learned and how will it be learned?” but also asks, “What was the perceived efficacy of a form of ‘blended approach’ as understood by this cohort of pre-service students?” A mix of early childhood-, primary-, and secondary-education students were given seven online forum tasks to complete. The students graded each other.

The findings of this study indicate broad positive outcomes for using an e-learning site in teacher training. Student and instructor evaluations provide positive outcomes and components that need improvement, including better forms of authentic learning and authentic assessment.
