Nurturing Faith in Math Class

"When are we ever going to use this?" is a common question asked by math students, according to Robert Moore, and math teachers should provide a ready response, realizing that this query is not just a complaint, but a simple desire to understand the usefulness of math. The article is divided into two sections: Respect and Relevance of Math to Life. Moore presents discussion on how areas such as simple and compound interests, personal finance, probability, lotteries, gambling, philanthropy, and scholarships can teach the usefulness of math concepts, and at the same time provide insight to the faith, values, and beliefs.
