Mission Geography

Teaching social studies and geography with a world missions perspective takes planning. E. Stanley Chace shares the experience of students from a small rural elementary school who selected a country they wanted to study, and in pairs and small groups, planned what they would include in their reports. The students wrote to different governments and Adventist division offices requesting materials, and prepared presentations on what they found for their families, friends, visitors, and missionaries. The amount of work students put into this project exceeded what they would have accomplished had the teacher merely assigned regular homework.
