Meeting the Needs of the Gifted and Talented

The gifted and talented student in a regular classroom is usually put in a position of being bored with work that is less than challenging. Rather than just giving them more work to do, they need an accelerated curriculum, an enriched curriculum, and an individualized curriculum that emphasizes independent study. Three approaches to teaching and meeting the needs of these students are ability grouping, acceleration, and enrichment.
