Pacific Union Nutrition Guidelines for Parents

Download PUC-created Nutrition Guidelines for Parents of children attending Adventist schools (or the accompanying guidelines for school lunches) free, or order a copy on CD from the Pacific Union Conference Office of education. The members of the PUC Curriculum Committee became aware that the state of California, because of the obesity and health problems in young children, was requiring all California Public Schools to comply with state nutrition guidelines. Because of the unique Adventist philosophy of health and the academic, spiritual, and moral development of our students, the PUC Curriculum Committee voted that a committee be formed to develop guidelines for both schools and parents that would support Adventist views concerning good nutrition. Members of the committee are listed in the document and below (in the full resource details). These guidelines are now accepted by the PUC Curriculum Committee and endorsed by the GC Nutrition Committee. Schools and/or parents using these materials may also wish to purchase Using the Dietary Guidelines for Americans by calling the Federal Consumer Information Center at (888) 878-3256 and The Vegetarian Food Pyramid by calling the Health Connection at (800) 548-8700.
