Should Adventist Academies Teach Literature?
Literature can be a controversial topic in Adventist schools in many regions worldwide. Shirley McGarrell explores the teaching of literature in Adventist schools throughout select regions of the Caribbean. Two sets of teachers were surveyed and interviewed: those that taught and those that did not teach literature. The author suggests that secondary level English teachers can use Christian principles to select literary works that will impart principles of value and faith.
