How to Deal With Difficult People

Janet Mallery shares principles for managing conflict with difficult parents, colleagues, principals, school staff, students, and others. Principles discussed in this article include: confine the conflict, know how many people are involved, be suspicious of the words 'everyone' and 'no one', know the facts, learn how to disagree, remain calm, and many more. The author notes that although these helpful suggestions may not always resolve the conflict, putting them into practice will increase the communication between both parties and minimize the potential for a more harmful situation.
