Launching a Program of Individualized Math Instruction
The purpose of this article in the JAE special math issue is to provide a model for individualization in math instruction that caters to the uniqueness of each child. Advice given is designed to assist teachers in implementing a model that will help children take advantage of their individual strengths, compensate for their weaknesses, and learn to work together for a common good. An individualized instruction model includes objectives, orientation, preassessment, small group and individualized assignments, diagnostic groups, and post-test reassessment.
