JAE Legal Update

How does the U.S. Supreme Court's decision on the Fourth Amendment prohibition against unreasonable searches and seizures relate to the Adventist educational system? The decision extended yet another constitutional right to public school students by making the Fourth Amendment applicable to searches and seizures conducted by school officials. Constitutional decisions of the Supreme Court affect public school officials and not their parochial school counterparts. Guidelines may not be required to be applied in private schools, but they do fit within a Christian perspective with reference to the fundamental rights of privacy.
