Keeping Youth Drug Free - Prevention, Intervention and Redemption
This JAE article examines the school's role in keeping youth drug-free. The "minimizing reflex", "impotence syndrome", and "institutional denial system" are ways that the drug problem is minimized. Defining addiction as a disease is fundamental to any helping ministry. A multifaceted recovery program and long-term support is needed. The four stages of drug use are described. Recommendations for prevention and intervention are supplied.
