Is Your Science Laboratory Safe?

This article from the JAE special science issue examines science laboratory safety issues. Types of commonly occurring laboratory accidents include burns, injuries, and poisoning. Science instructors must continually stress safety guidelines, have a well stocked first-aid kit and Standard First Aid and Personal Safety easily accessible, have safety training, read current literature, reflect on their classroom design, and study the behavior of their students. Right-to-know laws and disposing of hazardous chemicals rules, long-range hazards, and arranging chemicals for safety are discussed.
