Meeting the Needs of the Part-time College Student
Adventist colleges have experienced a dramatic increase in the enrollment of part-time, nontraditional students. However, more than half of North American Adventist colleges have no separate educational programs for these students. Programs at Southwestern Adventist College, Atlantic Union College, and Columbia Union College provide insight into the typical needs of these students. What are these students like, what are their needs, and how can they be provided with a well-rounded Christian education? Smallness and a pervading principle of caring concern can help achieve integration. Adventist higher education must avoid the temptation to view these students simply as a budgetary windfall.
