Hot Boudin, Cold Cous-Cous

Assessing the negative aspects of interschool sports. The beginnings of intercollegiate sport and the Adventist experience and Ellen White's counsels are discussed. A literature review suggests five basic areas of concern which yield ample evidence to support the church's traditional position of excluding interschool sports from Adventist campuses. These are distraction from academic activities; undesirable attitudes; competition; an undemocratic program; sports and school spirit; and, funding problems. This article is from the JAE physical education and fitness issue.
