Training in Up-to-Date Careers in Home Economics

The crisis in academy-level home economics has created a demand at the college/university level for programs leading to a wider variety of careers in the area. Student interest in home economics has become more specialized. Examples of job opportunities within employment clusters is presented. College home economics departments should continue to provide teacher education as an option so that academies can be staffed with professional home economists. The technological, demographic, and social shifts in American society make it imperative that new avenues for career development be made available. From the JAE issue on revitalizing home economics.
