Revitalizing Home Economics
How can educators refute the arguments favoring elimination of home economics and revitalize the subject at the same time? Ideas include embarking on a public relations campaign, building faculty and administrative support, considering a name change, reorganizing home economics classes, encouraging equal education for all students, making the course academic, using community resources, and hiring well-qualified teachers. From the JAE issue on revitalizing home economics.
