Enlarging the Vision - Interdisciplinary Studies in the Arts

What is being done in schools and colleges to train the eyes and ears of the youth to see and hear and appreciate the visual and auditory world? College students today have little appreciation, understanding or knowledge of the arts. The arts and other human achievements are taught as though each were a unique event instead of from an interdisciplinary approach in which the big picture is exposed. This approach emphasizes the interconnectedness of the world, the ability to see issues holistically, and the freedom to explore issues without regard to artificial disciplinary barriers. Synthesis enhances creativity. The educational benefits are discussed. From the JAE Adventist schools and the arts issue.
