Since teachers spend many hours each day with students, they are in an excellent position to detect early physical and/or behavioral changes that may indicate an illness or infection, and thus prevent its spread. This article explains infectious disease indicators for diarrhea, preventing the spread of food and water-borne infections, cholera, typhoid fever, insect-borne diseases and other communicable conditions. School policy and responsibility are outlined, along with helpful easy-reference charts. Read Part I of this two-part article here.
