Home Economics Methods for the Secondary Level

Ideas and teaching methods for getting secondary students interested in home economics. Ideas include teacher enthusiasm, using a variety of methods, making the classroom surroundings pleasant, and establishing guidelines and then letting students pick the kind of class projects they want to do. Recruiting students for home economics classes calls for creativity. Foods and nutrition, child care, clothing selection and construction, and self-esteem/relationships are topics discussed, with teaching ideas for each. From the JAE revitalizing home economics issue.
