Kim discusses the advantages and disadvantages of non-native English-speaking teachers, drawing on her experience as both a teacher and director of English Second Language programs in Korea and the USA. While native speakers may be better language models, she proposes that non-native speakers are better guides to the holistic process of language and culture acquisition.
