Choosing a School Is No Small Matter

Nash advocates for smaller schools, citing research that a mix of ages and abilities provides optimum opportunities for student collaboration and provides a stable, reliable environment. Statistics show that students in smaller schools have stronger academic achievement, lower dropout rates, and fewer behavioral incidents. Nash urges colleges to train teachers in small-school pedagogy, parents to consider sending their children to small schools, and teachers already in small schools to optimize their opportunities to connect to students.
