Bringing Powerful Teaching to the Small School
Larry Burton shares his experiences in using many instructional strategies in a one-room school. Implementing these strategies can lead to what the author calls "instructional empowerment." Models of Teaching (MOT) strategies discussed include: Synetics; Inquiry Training; Concept Attainment; TABA Inductive Thinking; Cooperative Learning Roundtable; and, much more. Shared suggestions for implementing MOT include: Making Time; Developing a Lesson Library; Using Curriculum Guides; and, Using Textbook and Workbooks Responsibly. The article also includes examples, a chart, and a glossary.
