Cataloging and Classification

This article explains the processes of cataloging and classification of library materials. A library catalog is an organized set of bibliographic records. Cataloging has two phases: descriptive and subject cataloging. The two most commonly used methods for classification are the Dewey Decimal System and the Library of Congress Classification Scheme.
