Assistance and Support
An integral part of technology purchasing should include support to maintain the equipment. This may include warranties and service agreements. Personnel need to be available in a timely manner to assist and repair equipment.
Some key points to keep in mind:
- Over the long term, certified technicians, rather than willing but unqualified volunteers, may be more cost effective.
- On-site personnel, where practical, should be periodically trained in the support of the school’s technology.
- When a local reputable vendor is available, he/she may provide better service value than distant/discount distributors.
