Narratives
Narratives are written comments made by the teacher about the
student's and/or the group progress and work habits. They
help describe the reasons for the grade and levels of
performance. In addition, they enable the teacher to
clearly and directly connect the student and/or group
effort with performance. Narratives can also describe
the nature of the project and activities along with the
student and/or group response to the activity.

During the unit on Media, Group 1 reviewed the basic elements
contained in a TV guide. Clinton's task was to provide
cut-out letters from old magazines and to arrange the French
spelling of the vocabulary words to be included in the TV
guide. When encouraged by the group leader, Clinton worked
well. There were times when Clinton did not make good use
of class time and distracted others. He had trouble working
by himself because he needs direction.

During the unit on Media, Group 1 reviewed the basic
elements contained in a TV guide. The group members
worked diligently, creating their own TV shows for
teenagers. The group continued to build vocabulary
around the different kinds of shows adding to their
repertoire of related words. Trista soon established
herself as the group leader and tasks were allocated
to each member of the group according to individual
strengths and intelligences. One group member had
difficultly staying on task but the group encouraged
him to stay focused. This group seemed to work well
together staying on task and completing the assignment
with minimal disturbances.
