Journey to Excellence

G.A.I.N.

Organizing My Conference

Growth: a new discovery or breakthrough. Narrate it, give examples, etc.

  • One thing I remember was . . .
  • A discovery I made about my learning was . . .
  • My keeper for this quarter was . . .
  • I never want to forget . . .

Achievement: a best paper, an A report, a super test, etc.

  • Decide what you will say about each paper and why you chose to show that work. Put sticky notes on the ones you choose to keep track of your thoughts.

Improvement: where I was, where I am now.

  • Progress charts, examples, or work from the beginning of the year.
  • Sightings of what you feel you have improved upon.
  • Show both scholastic and behavioral improvement.

Narrative: a written account of what was learned or improved upon.

  • Goal-setting paper.
  • A letter or paper written to explain what you have learned in a specific subject.
  • Written self-reflection.

Good luck!
