Lee explains the importance and benefits of understanding how young children develop inquiry skills, and notes that “if we, as educators, can harness the natural curiosity of children, we will help them develop critical thinking skills and facilitate inquiry while fueling their natural passion for learning.” The article also describes the characteristics of classrooms that utilize inquiry-based learning and provides tips for integrating two elements important to developing inquiry: play-based learning and creating the environment.
