Bigger is not Necessarily Better

Evidence and research substantiate the many advantages students receive in a multigrade environment, and challenge the philosophy that "bigger is better". Advantages include social development and self-concept; self-concept and work study skills; self-concept and reading achievement; lower student teacher ratio and peer tutoring; newly developed SDA curriculum materials; and, individualization.
