Academy

Secondary or high school. The term Academy is used in North America for schools with grades 9 through 12.  In other world regions secondary may include 5, 6 or 7 years of education before university entrance level, depending on national system requirements.

Elementary School

Also known as primary school.  In North America, Adventist elementary schools include the first eight years of formal schooling, known as Grades 1-8.  Some include kindergarten before Grade 1.  In some regions, primary schools cover the first 4 or 5 years, with a middle or junior high school encompassing another 3-4 years before senior high school, the last four years before college or university level.
